Caught the sun as it went down still reflected on the northernmost building in view. Did not however catch the boat that zipped a bit too fast upriver...

'Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!' (2Cor 9.14)

A beautifully serene morning...

Thought for the day: Change is as good as a rest...

Sundown. What a beautiful day it turned out to be.

Thought for the day: Good music is truly nourishing...

Heavily clouded skies; like arms gathering up the rain to keep it from falling on Manhattan...
'What fellowship is there between light and darkness?' (2Cor. 6.14)

#72

A wet Monday morning with clouds like arms enveloping Manhattan.

Thought for the day: A delightful performance is a gift received; from there you can flow out - changed, by a glimpse of the eternal.

A refreshingly cool morning; damper even than has been of late. Clouds gathering above Manhattan as if laying on hands in prayer.

'Let light shine out of darkness' (2Cor. 4.6)

Glorious sunset...

Beautiful, cloudless sky in broad daylight with a boat zooming upriver.

A quote from one of the most beautiful chapters in the New Testament - as Jesus speaks to His Father about and on beahlf of the world:

'I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.' (John 17.26)

'...the love with which you have loved me...' to have so intimate a knowledge of His love...

#68

A beautifully still morning with a few early boaters gliding upriver.

'we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.' (2Cor 4.18)

A beautifully damp Spring morning...
'Greet one another with a holy kiss.' (1Cor 16.20)

A bit early for a photo yet; wanted to capture the violet color of the sky this morning - a mix of pink haze and pre-dawn midnight blue...?

'What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. And as for what you sow, you do not sow the body that is to be, but a bare seed, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain. But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body.' (1 Cor. 15.36-38)

Sun setting under hazy skies; who would have known that Manhattan haze is pastel colored.
Thought for the day: 'Whatever we have as an "alabaster box": the most precious thing, the thing dearest in the world to us - yes, let me say it, the outflow from us of a life that is produced by the very Cross itself - we give all that up to the Lord. ' - Watchman Nee

#64

Clouds hanging low, gently enveloping the skyline in a shroud. Great weather for the Boston Marathon...

Thought for the day: For God is a God not of disorder but of peace. (1Cor 14.33)

#63

A quiet, humid sort of Saturday morning. A thin veil of clouds at the horizon.

God looks upon us with hope and longing...

Haven't done a night view in a long while. Even the bright lights of Times Square is unable to illuminate the sky above.

'The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.' - L. P. Hartley

#61

A pastel morning - the sky looks sketched in, unfinished. Only the Penn One building is aflame with the morning sun.

Thought for the day: 'And now faith, hope and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.' (1 Cor 13.13)

A beautifully hazy preview to summer. Still bright passed 6pm with no cloud in the sky.

'The real "work" of prayer is to become silent and listen to the voice that says good things about me' - Henri Nouwen

#59

A bright morning with slight haze at the horizon - not a cloud in the sky.

Thought for the day: 'And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another' (2Cor. 3.18)

Afternoon sun in full luminosity...

'By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.' (Ps 42.8)

Luminous clouds, like angels gathering the last bit of daylight for safekeeping.
Thought for the night: 'Live loved' - William P. Young

#56

A windy, cloudless Monday morning that looks deceptively still, photographed - only the waves give it away.

Thought for the day: Our experience and enjoyment of music is incomplete until expressed and shared - Rev. Scott Sauls on Ephesians 5.18-21

A very busy Sunday sky, with clouds like mythical dragons and boatloads of beasts running away from the first light of dawn...

Thought for the day: We are shaped by what we give worth to.

#54 Foghorn

The sound is what is really remarkable this morning - foghorns the frequent sounding of which must indicate how utterly lacking in visibility it must be down below on the river. Very haunting.

Thought for the day: Sometimes, trying is why we fail.

Beautifully cool, damp morning; the world seems drenched in life itself. There is even a face in the cloud, like a puppy poking its head out of the hedge.

Thought for the day: 'Yes, everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.' (2Cor. 4.15)

All the 'clouds' are below the Manhattan skyline this morning - and moving from the ocean upriver.

Thought for the day: 'The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart.' (Rom. 10.8b)

Birds are chirping wildly, but only a faint blush of sun in the sky. Apparently, city birds chirp at all hours, confused by electric lights.

Thought for the day: We all chirp wildly at the light.

There is bright sunshine out there now, but I like this sky from earlier this morning. Both the clouds and the skyline are hauntingly sihlouetted by the morning sun. The clouds show an appropriately gothic scene; a deranged cat taking a bite out of a big fish - it could also be my nephew taking a bite out of my arm...

Thought for the day: 'So it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God who shows mercy.' (Romans 9.16)

Fog lifting... and it is staying light later and later.

Thought for the day: 'Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ...For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Romans 8.35 - 39)

A beautiful day, polished by the rain yesterday.

Thought for the day: We seem to look for God everywhere except in God Himself...

Thought for the day: We are our most beautiful when reflecting the beauty and grandeur of Nature.
